Jens Risom has been a part of the DWR family from the beginning, which is why it’s appropriate that he should be involved with one of the first projects by DWR Design Studio. In 2007, we started collaborating with Risom to reintroduce the chair and ottoman he originally designed in 1967 for the Carib Hilton Hotel in Puerto Rico. The toy we know so well was co-invented and named by a woman most of us are less familiar with. Her name was Betty James and she passed away in November at the age of 90. Her partner in creating this toy was her husband Richard, who had the original idea when he saw a torsion spring fall off a table and flip over.
