Copenhagen native Arne Jacobsen was among the first to introduce modern furniture to Denmark. He created his AJ Floor Lamp (1960) to echo the oblique angles of his Series 3300 furniture, which included the Egg™ Chair and Swan™ Chair. To maximize its functionality, Jacobsen fitted it with a shade that tilts up or down. This lamp was designed for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, for which Jacobsen designed every element. Bulb (not included): E26 base, 60W max. UL listed. Made in Denmark.
  • Stylish, effective reading light.
  • Tilting shade.
  • Lithe profile.

Arne Jacobsen

Arne Jacobsen began training as a mason before studying at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, where he won a silver medal for a chair that was exhibited at the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs. Jacobsen’s work remains appealing and fresh today, combining free-form shapes with the traditional attributes of Scandinavian design, material and structural integrity.
