Charles and Ray Eames designed the Eames Sofa (1967) to complement their Soft Pad Collection, showing off a harmonious blend of wood, leather, and polished aluminum. This two- or three-seat modern couch is equally fit for home or office, with carefully considered details. The sofa features a solid wood back and frame panels finished with gunstock oil, polished aluminum legs and arm supports, and plush foam cushions upholstered in leather. Cushion undersides are covered in nylon for good ventilation and supported by resilient webbing for added comfort. Charles and Ray Eames

Charles and Ray Eames

Design is for living. That maxim shaped a widespread shift in design during the 1940s and '50s. It was a revolution of form, an exciting visual language that signaled a new age and a fresh start – and two of its prime movers were Charles and Ray Eames. This husband-and-wife team's unique synergy led to a whole new look in furniture. Lean and modern. Sleek and simple. Beautifully functional.
