Simple, modern, and a touch playful, the Plank Bench (2018) is an inviting addition to an outdoor patio, deck, garden, or yard. The wide horizontal planks that form the backrest can hold anything from a glass of wine or a book to a portable lantern as daylight fades. The bench was designed by Paris-born, Copenhagen-based designer Aurélien Barbry, whose elegant, expressive designs often encourage interaction. Crafted from solid teak, the bench will develop a soft-gray patina if left to age naturally outdoors. Made in Vietnam.
  • Made of beautiful solid teak.
  • Wide plank backrest can hold drinks or accessories.
  • Left untreated, teak will develop a warm, silvery patina over time if left outdoors.

Aurélien Barbry

Threading the needle of beauty and function, French industrial designer Aurélien Barbry is careful not to tip the scale in favor of form: “My design philosophy is to move objects towards more simplicity and obviousness.” Though direct, his penchant for practical design – including furniture, lighting, and decor – leaves room for the exploration of sculptural, organic, and asymmetric silhouettes.
