The teak used in the Two Level Coffee Table and Side Table (2003) comes from plantation grown resources, set up on the Isle of Java by the Dutch over 150 years ago and today strictly managed by the Indonesian government. To the touch, the wood is incredibly smooth. To the eye, it has a soft patina with subtle variation. Nicely contrasting the organic qualities of the wood is the collection's precise, linear style. These tables were crafted using traditional woodworking techniques; through polishing -- which is the only processing done to this wood - natural oils were brought to the surface to create an incredible luster. Like all unfinished woods, placement in direct sunlight will cause fading and should be avoided. These pieces are for indoor use only.
