Nobuho Miya deftly captures the essence of birds and fish in this highly stylized modern design that’s rooted in a centuries-old foundry method. These small yet bold pieces are made in Morioka, a town in northern Japan that has been producing ironware since the mid-17th century. Known as Nambu-Tekki, the work from this area is internationally recognized for its high quality. These cast iron forms are simply displayed on blocks of wood for use as bookends or just to enjoy.
