Alexander Girard was the director of design for Herman Miller’s textile division from 1952 to 1973. He was asked to add an element of “aesthetic functionalism” to Herman Miller’s first open-plan office system, called Action Office. He responded with more than 40 images for Environmental Enrichment Panels (1972), which are now available as quality, high-resolution posters on 100% cotton paper with optional frames in white, black, or natural maple. With vivid colors and whimsical themes, this collection of vintage Girard design motifs enriches any environment.
  • Authentic Environmental Enrichment Poster by Alexander Girard for Herman Miller.
  • High-resolution printing on 100% cotton paper.
  • American maple frame with natural, white, or black finish.
  • Appears to float in its frame, creating a graphic look on the wall.
  • Made by hand in Austin, Texas.
  • A piece of modern history for your home or office.

Alexander Girard

Alexander Girard

During his career, Alexander Girard energized the furniture designs of Herman Miller with a new, vibrant color palette and an oeuvre of folk-inspired textiles. He was the first modern designer to define textiles as being more than just functional and to further emphasize form through the application of color and pattern.
