Details

For his Loku Collection (2017), Shin Azumi took advantage of the latest molded plywood techniques, but he also exercised restraint to avoid creating something overwrought. “Some of the 3-D molded wood chairs in the market are getting too similar to plastic ones,” he says. When I designed Loku, I was careful to keep the dignity and beauty of a wooden chair.” In 2016, Loku was awarded the prestigious Design Guild Mark for excellence in British design. Made in Thailand.

Shin Azumi

Born in Kobe, Japan, Shin Azumi embraces a design philosophy that merges functionality and entertainment, or enjoyment. “Design is a kind of work that provides entertainment for our lives,” he says. “Functionality is something that is quite universal and something we can share. I try to use functionality as an element of enjoyment.”
