In the late 1980s, Ron Rezek was hired by a ceiling fan company to conceive a modern design. “At that point, ceiling fans had never really been a design object,” Rezek explained in The New York Times. “Most of the fans on the market were reproduction Victorian fans, and if a guy had a Mies van der Rohe apartment in Chicago, he probably wasn’t going to put one in there.” Rezek’s design was a hit. He went on to create a state-of-the-art collection of sleek, efficient and durable wobble-free fans, and The Modern Fan Company was born. The biggest leap in his fan construction is a one-piece rotor that promotes stable blade mounting, replacing the separate bolt-on blade brackets still widely used in lesser designs today. Further eliminating even faint traces of wobble, the blades are meticulously manufactured to a weight differential of no more than a gram. Capable of moving thousands of cubic feet of air per minute, these fans suit all seasons, with a reverse switch mounted on the fan body that keeps warm air circulating during colder months. Each can be controlled with a convenient (included) remote. Cirrus (1997) has three blades and can be operated at multiple speeds. Compatible with ceilings pitched up to 33.5 degrees, it includes two down rods (6" and 12") to accommodate various room heights. Longer down rods (24", 48" and 72") sold separately. Remote stores in a wall-mounted cradle and runs on two AAA batteries (included). Assembly required. ETL Listed to UL Standards for use in damp sheltered outdoor locations.
