Danish designer Poul Henningsen’s three-shade system of lighting was first designed in the 1920s, leading to more than a thousand models produced over the years. In 1974, on the 80th anniversary of Henningsen’s birth, lighting manufacturer Louis Poulsen introduced the PH 80 Floor Lamp in his honor. Glossy on top and matte on the underside, the three shades in the PH 80 Floor Lamp have a 3:2:1 size ratio, which allows them to reflect light downward and slightly outward. The result is a soft, evenly distributed glow that adds warmth to a living, dining, bedroom, or office space. Bulb (not included): 100W/A19/E26. Made in Denmark by Louis Poulsen.

Poul Henningsen

Trained as an architect, Poul Henningsen is best known for a series of lighting fixtures that resulted from his fascination with the then-new technology of the electric light bulb. In 1925, one of these fixtures won first prize for lighting at the International Exposition of Decorative Arts in Paris. The next year it was put into production by Louis Poulsen & Co.
