Originally designed in the late 1930s by Danish architect Vilhelm Lauritzen in partnership with Louis Poulsen for the Danish Broadcasting House in Copenhagen, the VL38 Wall Lamp is an evolution of Lauritzen’s original VL38 table lamp. With the same retro styling and softly curved, organic silhouette, the modern version includes an energy-efficient LED bulb and an adjustable shade to cast light exactly where it’s needed. It’s made from powder-coated aluminum with a white interior for soft light, and a brushed brass arm and switch. This adjustable wall light is ideal placed in pairs flanking a bed; above a buffet, console, sofa, or reading chair; or lining a hallway. High/low/off switch integrated on wall plate. Includes a 2700K 9.6W LED bulb. Made in Denmark.
  • Adjustable wall light with a curved, organic shade that’s ideal for reading or downlighting.
  • The white interior of the powder-coated metal shade ensures soft light.
  • Includes an integrated high/low/off switch on wall plate.

Vilhelm Lauritzen

Vilhelm Lauritzen is credited with introducing modern architecture to Denmark in the 1930s when he designed the Daells Varehus department store in Copenhagen – furniture and lighting included. He saw architecture as “applied art for the people, never a privilege for the few,” and went on to design many notable buildings and their interiors, led by his functionalist approach and timeless aesthetic.
