Seeking furniture that could stand up to the salty environment of her seaside home, Florence Knoll called Richard Schultz up to the task. His answer: The 1966 Collection®, a refined series that brings the clean lines and balanced proportions of indoor modern furniture to outdoor living. Made of sturdy aluminum with a weather-resistant finish, this chaise adjusts to four angles of recline. Its large wheels spin at different speeds thanks to differential axles, making this Chaise easy to move.
  • Adjusts from fully flat to four angles of recline.
  • Set on large wheels with differential axles for easy transportation.
  • Features weather-resistant powder-coated finish and breathable woven mesh.
  • The 1966 Collection is included in the permanent collection at MoMA.
  • Fitted cover sold separately.

Richard Schultz

For half a century, Richard Schultz has been designing outdoor furniture, first at Knoll, where he assisted Harry Bertoia and developed his own lines, and after 1972 as a freelancer. He later launched his own collection that included his reissued Knoll classics, including the Petal Table and Leisure Line chaise on wheels, plus new designs such as the Café 2000 Chair and Topiary Chair.
